A HOME in a village between Taunton and Minehead was badly damaged in a fire this morning (Tuesday).

Two adults were evacuating the property in Crowcombe Heathfield at the time of the 999 call at 9.11am.

The fire was in the ground floor living room of the home in Kings Acre.

Two fire engines from Williton and one each from Wiveliscombe and Taunton were sent to the incident.

On arrival crews confirmed there was smoke issuing and that the room of origin was well alight.

Electrics and oil supply to the property were isolated

Crews set to work with four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, a safety jet and two thermal imaging cameras.

The fire, which has since been extinguished, caused "100 per cent fire damage to the room of origin and 100 per cent smoke damage to the remainder of the property".

The cause of the fire has been confirmed as accidental.
