A TAUNTON primary school is closed today (Monday) due to "major flooding".
Staff arrived at Parkfield Primary School this morning to find the interior of part of the premises under water.
They then hurriedly tried to contact parents to inform them the school would not be opening today.
It is expected pupils will be welcomed back to lessons tomorrow.
The site has been left without running water and electricity during the clear up operation.
A social media post from the Friends of Parkfield School says: "URGENT: Parkfield school is closed today due to major flooding within the building.
"Currently the school does not have running water or electricity.
"We will send out further communication when we can."
The County Gazette has contacted the school, but head teacher Gareth Jones was unavailable for comment.
