FIREFIGHTERS helped remove a person from a car following a collision with a tractor this afternoon (Monday).

Police and ambulance personnel also attended the incident on the main road through East Lyng at 3.39pm.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Fire control received a call from our colleagues in the police requesting our assistance with a road traffic collision.

"They had received reports of a van and tractor being involved with one person still within the van.

"Fire control immediately mobilised one fire engine from Taunton Fire Station and one from our Street Fire Station.

"On arrival crews confirmed this collision was involving a tractor and a car with one person medically but not physically trapped within the car.

"Crews assisted ambulance paramedics on scene to assess the casualty and assist them from the vehicle.

"Crews then made vehicles safe prior to leaving the scene."
