A THEATRE in Burnham-on-Sea is set to re-open in June.

The Princess Theatre and Arts Centre has announced their plans for a staged re-opening from June 7.

The fire stage of the re-opening will continue with strict social distancing measures, while the venue hosts a new art exhibition.

Their new look cafe, under the management of Hellend's Kitchen, will also be open.

The exhibition, called 'Contact', is the response of 12 artists to the experience and consequences of the coronavirus pandemic.

It is a reflection of the need for human contact during lockdown and our new way of life.

The theatre will also be inviting members and volunteers to trail events during the fire phase, as well as hosting a socially distanced concert.

For the second stage of re-opening, the theatre will then host classic film screenings and full capacity ticketed events.

Basic social distancing measures may remain in place, however the date of the second stage and the measures will be subject to Government guidance.

The Princess Theatre is currently still hosting their virtual community choir and online audio plays.

These plans are subject to change in line with the governmental guidance and legislation.

The Princess Theatre remains committed to only re-opening with confidence in their ability to provide a safe environment for all users, staff, and the wider local community.
