THE British Cheese Awards have been cancelled for the second year running.

A decision to cancel the awards was made by the Royal Bath & West Society, who felt they were "unable to deliver" the standard of awards the exhibitors, judges and public are used to.

The awards are usually held annually at the Royal Bath & West Showground in Shepton Mallet, but were cancelled last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Alan Lyon, head of shows at the Royal Bath & West Society, said: “The team are hugely disappointed to be taking this decision for the second year running.

"Having to cancel one of the key awards events in the UK is a great shame.

"We have already started having discussions about next year and are really looking forward to welcoming everyone back to what will be an even bigger and better British Cheese Awards.”

Previous exhibitors will be contacted early next year with details on how to enter the awards in 2022.

The team at the Royal Bath & West Society continue to work on the Bath & West Country Festival (August 27-29) and the Dairy Show (October 6).
