A WOMAN from Taunton was 'so happy' to become one of 95 people in the UK to receive a unique coin.

Doreen, 95, was chosen to receive one of the coins made by the Royal Mint to celebrate the Queen's 95th birthday.

The coins are being given to 95 selected people across the UK who are also 95-years-old.

Noel and Vanessa Munson, owners of Home Instead Taunton, who deliver care to Doreen in her home, heard about the give-away and applied for a coin on behalf of Doreen.

Noel Munson, co-owner of Home Instead, said: “Doreen is a wonderful client to care for, she is always so positive and a delight to be around.

"We help Doreen around her home, and she has formed great relationships with our caregivers who love going to visit her.

“When we heard about the giveaway, we knew we had to apply for a coin on behalf of Doreen.

"She is a huge fan of the royal family, and being the same age as the Queen she has always looked up to Her Majesty.

"She fondly remembers key royal events including the Jubilees and the Coronation, so receiving this coin is really special to her.

"She even wrote a thank you note to the Queen when she received the coin!”

“The coin is really lovely, and I am so happy to receive it," added Doreen.

"The Queen is the same age as me and I have loved watching her in her role as monarch across my life.

"It was a very kind thing of Noel and Vanessa to do, and I am very thankful.”
