TEMPORARY traffic lights are in operation on a main road after a water main burst.
The roadworks were set up on the A361 Bere Lane junction with Butleigh Road in Glastonbury around 5.30pm yesterday (January 26).
The water main was losing 8,000 litres per hour.
Bristol Water are on site now and drivers are being warned to expect delays.
A Bristol Water spokesperson said: “Our leakage crew were proactively looking for leaks in Glastonbury yesterday (January 26) and located a burst main on Bere Lane, close to the junction with Butleigh Road.
"The exact source of the leak was providing difficult to find so we needed drill trial holes to locate it.
"This work continued into today to prevent disruption to nearby residents last night.
"We’re working to complete these repairs before the weekend, including removal of the traffic lights. Water supplies in the area are not affected.”
