AUTHORS will be dropping in to Taunton's Brendon Books to meet fans and sign copies of their books in coming months.

  • Jane McLoughlin will be visiting at 7pm on Thursday, April 10.

She was educated at Trinity College, Dublin, and has worked for a number of national newspapers, starting with the Daily Mirror, for which she covered the worst of the conflict in Northern Ireland.

She was a feature writer on the Daily Telegraph and the Daily Mail before joining the City pages of the Guardian as industrial editor and columnist.

She was then the Guardian's Women's Page editor before joining the Independent as a leader writer. She has twice judged the Golden Dagger Awards, and has published seven thrillers and four non-fiction books. She is married to the former Punch literary editor and Guardian humorous columnist Stanley Reynolds.

She lives locally in a three hundred year old cottage just outside Taunton.

  • Alison Weir will be at the shop on April 22 at 7pm.

She is a historical biographer and author and will be giving a talk on the subject of her new novel, 'The Lady Elizabeth'.

The talk will be followed by questions and a signing session. Tickets are £3 with £3 off the book.

  • Salley Vickers is coming on May 9 for a talk and book signing.

Her first novel, Miss Garnet's Angel was published quietly' but word spread organically by word of mouth via booksellers.

Within three years she sold 300,000 copies. This was followed by Mr Golightly's Holiday, Instances Of The Number 3, The Other Side Of You and her latest novel, Where Three Roads Meet.

As well as being an author she is a trained analytical psychologist and lectures widely on the connections between literature, psychology and religion.
