POLICE are keen to trace four youths on push bikes who threw stones at vehicles travelling along the M5 motorway.
The incident happened on Saturday lunchtime on a bridge over the motorway in the Taunton area.
Police think the youths were on Stoke Road.
Acting Sergeant Tony Foster of Taunton's road policing unit, said: "We believe at least one vehicle had its windscreen damaged. Later on the same day at about 3:30pm four youths were seen on push bikes to throw stones in the same area. This time four vehicles - including a coach - were damaged.
"We believe the youths were male and aged between 11 to 14 years.
"This was a serious criminal act. Throwing stones at fast-moving could have caused a serious road traffic collision. The incidents caused distress to all those involved but it could have been much worse."
The police would like anyone with any information to help identify the youths or the youths themselves to come forward.
Anyone with information is asked to call 0845 4567000.
