THE Public Inquiry into the refusal of four planning applications at Oxen Lane, North Curry, has now concluded.

The hearing, which opened in December last year, resumed for two days - today and yesterday - to allow the balance of the evidence to be heard and for the inspector to carry out a further site visit.

The inspector, Simon Emerson, told the inquiry that he would make his decision known after the publication of a report setting out the requirements for gypsy site provision in the South-West region.

The panel that met in early March to discuss the provision of sites for gypsies and travellers covering a five-year period up to 2011 is due to report shortly.

Mr Emerson said he would wait until May 23 for the report to be published and allow legal advisers for Taunton Deane Council and for the appellants a further 14 days to make representations on the panel's report.
