EVEN more kerbside recycling and garden waste collections have been missed in parts of Somerset today (Wednesday, May 31).

Somerset Council has apologised to householders and says it is working to get things back to normal.

A spokesperson for the local authority said: "Sorry, there are delays to some collections today.

"We apologise for the disruption and are working with our contractor to get things back on track as soon as possible."

Recycling collections scheduled for today in and around Yeovil and Castle Cary will be delayed.

Crews will return tomorrow (Thursday, June 1). People are asked to leave their boxes, bags and bins out for collection.

The spokesperson is also warning that "a small number of garden waste collections" may be missed in the West Somerset area today "due to a vehicle breakdown".

They added: "It will be a priority to return to this area."

A number of collections were missed at the end of last week, with recycling and garden waste left in and around Frome, South Petherton, Merriott, Crewkerne and Minehead.

And garden collections were not taken away in the Castle Cary area.

The council pledged to return to those locations today.

Waste and recycling collections are already a day behind the normal schedule this week due to the bank holiday on Monday.
