SOME people will not have their recycling collected from the kerbside this weekend, according to Somerset Council.

The council says some homes in South Somerset will miss out on the pick ups.

It follows a week in which hundreds of householders have seen collections missed.

Rounds are a day later than normal this week anyway due to the bank holiday on Monday.

For some people the disruption meant their boxes and blue bags were emptied two days later than on a normal week.

And today (Friday, June 2) a Somerset Council spokesperson said: "We are sorry, a number of recycling collections in and around Street, Glastonbury, Somerton, and garden waste due to be collected today in Wells, will not be picked-up today.

"Crews will return tomorrow, Saturday 3 June. Please leave you boxes, bags and bins out for collection."

Referring to collections tomorrow (Saturday), the spokesperson added: "Unfortunately our contractor has informed us that some residents in South Somerset, whose recycling is due on Saturday, may be missed.

"If your recycling has not been collected by 5pm on Saturday 3 June, please bring your containers in and re-present them on your next collection day.

"We apologise for this and know it’s not the service that you expect."
