Beth Bowden's Right of Way play coming to Taunton Brewhouse

Fresh from a successful run at VAULT Festival 2023, the critically acclaimed play will tour the South West, premiering at Exeter Phoenix on March 11.

This innovative production is the brainchild of Beth Bowden; she wrote, directed, performed, and designed Right of Way while walking the South West Coast Path.

The play provides an uplifting tale of choosing to walk, grow and reclaim space while exploring the serious themes of disability, chronic illness, and young carers.

"Broadway World" remarked on the multi-award-nominated play: "It straddles the line between poetry and theatre in an exquisite exploration of the 'landscape of grief'".

While "Everything Theatre" heralded it as a "Raw, heartbreaking, and altogether beautiful, Beth Bowden’s semi-autobiographical Right of Way is a poetic jewel waiting to be uncovered."

Performances are also scheduled for The Poly, Falmouth on March 15, Beaford Arts, Bridge Chambers, Barnstaple on March 27, and The Wardrobe Theatre, Bristol on March 28.

Alongside the tour, creative workshops for Young Carers will be offered, endorsed by Beth who said: "Placing my body in the landscape, I wrote about bodies in motion... We are extremely excited to be touring Right of Way to where it was written and created."

Explaining the workshop's objectives, producer Susannah Bramwell said: "The workshops will address barriers Young Carers face, offering them an opportunity to connect with those in similar situations and take a break from their caring roles.

"Our aim is to provide outlets for creative expression and encourage their engagement in the arts."

This incredible show concludes the tour in Bristol at the famous Wardrobe Theatre.
