MOTORISTS are being warned of the serious consequences they face if they are caught they drink or drug driving.
Avon and Somerset Police are running their annual winter drink/drug drive enforcement campaign as the festive season gets going.
Officers are carrying out roadside stop checks across the force area.
A spokesperson said: "Our officers are working hard to keep our roads safe by conducting proactive roadside stop checks across the Avon and Somerset Policing area.
"They could be anywhere, at any time of day.
"It doesn’t matter how well you know the road.
"It doesn’t matter if it’s only a five-minute drive.
"If you are caught driving under the influence of drink or drugs, you could get a prison sentence, a hefty fine and a driving ban.
"It’s not worth the risk."
