SOMERSET Council has begun legal proceedings to remove a group of travellers from Silk Mills Park and Ride in Taunton.
A small group of seven caravans parked up on the site on Friday, March 22, but this number has since increased to eight, according to the Service Manager for Transporting Somerset.
They said: "I can confirm that the number of caravans on site is currently eight.
"The Park & Ride service ran as normal on Saturday and continues to operate as normal this morning and there were no reported incidents over the weekend. Security remains on site, and the legal process will commence today.”
The service has, and continues to operate as normal and there is yet to be any reported incidents in relation to the group. Extra security remain on the site.
A spokesperson for Somerset Council said: "We are aware there is an unauthorised encampment on the Silk Mills Park and Ride site and we are taking the appropriate steps.
"All bus services are running as normal and there have been no reported incidents.
"Our welfare and enforcement teams will be visiting the site and a legal process is underway."
