BUTLIN'S have refuted claims that a guest was assaulted by a member of staff during their visit to the Minehead resort.

Paul and his partner checked into their room at Butlin's after a long drive from Kent on Monday, April 1, but were shocked to discover what they believed to be urine, blood, and faeces stains on their bedding.

After complaining at the checking in office, Paul said he had to knock on a manager's office door in order to find a resolution to the issue.

Management at the resort eventually agreed to move the couple to another room, but whilst collecting their new keys, Paul's girlfriend was allegedly the victim of an unprovoked assault by a member of staff, although Butlin's refute this claim.

Paul stated that a female employee shouted at him and his girlfriend, and threatened to kick them out of the resort, before 'shoving' his partner, who has autism and learning difficulties - with around 40 people reportedly witnessing the incident.

“She was very upset and we didn’t enjoy our first night," Paul said.

The pair accepted a £30 drinks voucher in compensation, after the customer service team allegedly refused to refund the cost of the trip.

Despite the claims, Butlin's say the couple 'enjoyed the rest of their week on resort', and stated Paul became 'aggressive' and 'entered restricted areas' whilst complaining to management.

A spokesperson said: “We’re sorry to hear about the cleanliness issues the guest experienced when checking in to their accommodation.

"The team were investigating this when the guest became aggressive and entered restricted areas.

"At no point was our team physical and we repeatedly asked they leave the back of house areas whilst we dealt with their complaint.

"We moved the guest to different accommodation for the remainder of their break.

"A gesture of goodwill for the accommodation issues was accepted and they enjoyed the rest of the week on resort."

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police added: "We received a report shortly before 6.30pm on Monday, April 1, that a woman had been assaulted at Butlins in Minehead.

"No injuries were reported.

"Officers have spoken to the victim and enquiries are ongoing."
