Tomas Holy has issued a heartfelt message to Carlisle United and their fans after his release.

The goalkeeper, who is one of eight players leaving the Blues, said he will never forget the great times he experienced at Brunton Park.

Holy, 32, is heading away from Carlisle after two campaigns with the club.

He had contrasting fortunes with United, Holy breaking a clean sheet record in 2022/23 and saving a shoot-out penalty at Wembley to help the Blues win the play-off final against Stockport County.

League One in 2023/24, though, proved a season to forget as Holy twice lost his place in the side and ended as third choice ahead of his release by manager Paul Simpson.

Holy, though, said he will always think fondly of his time in Cumbria.

Writing on Instagram, he said: "As every story also this one comes to its end. It’s a bittersweet end but even in that short time we all together managed to create memories that will last lifetime.

"That absolutely insane season 22/23 was something extraordinary, something you can bet I will remember for the rest of my life. 🏆

"I want to thank to every member of the club. I have met such great people. Thank to all my teammates which this ride would have been impossible without.

"And thank to you, the fans! You all have been the key player. Absolutely outstanding. Thank you very much for your support. At the very beginning I was told that the fans up north are the best.. well, I can confirm that 🤩

"I want to wish @officialcufc good luck next season and all the best in the future which I think is damn exciting. See you soon 🫡 💙"

Holy made 73 appearances in his two campaigns with United, having previously been with Ipswich Town.
