BUCKLER'S Mead Community School in Yeovil has taken the decision to bring the end of term forward to tomorrow (July 17) following diagnosed cases of swine flu among staff and pupils.

This difficult decision has been made in the best interests of pupils and employees. It takes account of the increasing absence of staff and children for both ill-health and precautionary reasons.

Headteacher Mike Featherstone said: "The school must be convinced that it can operate safely on a day-to-day basis.

"With escalating concern and reducing numbers of staff we can no longer guarantee appropriate provision.

“We look forward to starting the new academic year on September 1 with everyone in good health after the summer break."
