A SOMERSET firefighter appeared in court today charged with manslaughter over the death of farmer Harold Lee.
Mr Lee, 75, of Burtle, near Bridgwater, was crushed to death when his herd of cows stampeded last August.
His family have claimed the animals may have been spooked by the lights and sirens of an approaching fire engine.
Glastonbury firefighter Julian Lawford, 49, appeared before Taunton Deane Magistrates this morning, where he spoke only to confirm his name and address.
He was released on bail and is now due to appear at Exeter Crown Court on April 12.
