A MAN was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a crash on the A358 between Ilminster and Taunton on Tuesday afternoon (September 7).

Diversions were put in place from 3.10-8.20pm as the emergency services freed two adults and three children from a blue Ford Fiesta.

The Fiesta was in collision with a 17-tonne lorry which was carrying tipper truck and a digger, just north of Ashill. A green Volkswagen Passat was also involved in the incident.

The driver of the Fiesta was air-lifted to hospital in Exeter and three children, aged 18 months, four years, and six years, were taken to Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton, with injuries not thought to be life threatening.

The drivers of the Volkswagen and the lorry sustained minor injuries.
