PEOPLE in Yeovil are being given the chance to cut speeding on their roads.
Beat managers PC Jonathan Watson and PC Alan Ball are hoping people will take the opportunity to set up a Community Speedwatch scheme.
The scheme can be set up in any area where people are concerned about speeding and willing to give up their free time to assist the police in reducing the speed of road users.
A minimum of four people are needed for each area and they can operate in teams of two people with a speed gun. Community Speedwatch members can record details of speeding motorists and pass the details of the vehicle to the police, who in turn will issue the drivers letters of warning. If areas are highlighted to be of high concern then police may take more formal action.
