I READ with interest your recent article regarding the building of the new Learning Centre at Stithians Reservoir. My attention was drawn to the quoted number of 50,000 visitors to the area each year (an average of 136 each day). As a regular visitor (daily) I know this figure to be a gross exaggeration. During the winter months, November to March, very few visitors are to be seen. In fact the number of visitors may be counted on one hand.

Were the visitor numbers inflated in order to obtain nearly half a million pounds in grants? If so, then a deception took place.

If grants were available, perhaps it should have been used for the provision of low cost housing in the area, a much more deserving cause.
