WHILST not wishing to comment on the political overtones of Mr Foster's letter of September 1, I feel I must write to put the record straight regarding Dr Williams' support for the Camborne Town Band Music Society, of which the Camborne Youth Band is a part.

Mr Foster is quite correct when he describes the current band-room as being dilapidated and without toilet facilities. I am pleased to say that the society has now negotiated the lease of other premises locally and Dr Williams has been a great help in securing the lease. Dr Williams is a great supporter of the society, regularly making personal contributions to the youth and senior bands. His father is one of the most respected figures in the brass band world in Wales and during a recent visit to Camborne conducted the senior band in a piece of music he composed for his son's wedding.

The music society appreciates Mr Foster's recognition of the work of Mr Pope and Mr Dunstan in creating an environment whereby the youth of the town can make a valuable contribution to the community here in Camborne, but cannot support his personal views on someone who has, and continues to make, valuable contributions to our organisation and other like organisations in the Camborne, Pool, Redruth area.
