I'm an old Redruth boy who used to live on St Day Road, and through your letters page, may I thank D'Arcy "Eddie" Richards, because I found the letter about Anderton and Rowlands Show tractor, Gladiator, very interesting.

I remember it well and have told my children about it many times when they were young. My late wife thought the Anderton and Rowland fair the best. Mind you, she was biased. Never mind where we were in the world, to her Cornwall and all things Cornish was the best in the world and she wasn't even Cornish but a Midlander with a Scot for a father and a Midlander for a mum.

I also believe that Harold Stevens, who attended the rugby reunion, used to be sports master at Trewirgie. I seem to remember him living at St Ives and playing for them.

I receive my copy of the Packet from Mr and Mrs J Paull, of Illogan Highway, who used to live next door to us on St Day Road, who I still call Auntie Ruth and Uncle Jack. I read with relish, stories of Redruth from when I was young. I used to attend Trewirgie School on Falmouth Road.

Regarding the letter written by D'Arcy Richards, I wonder if he was the D'Arcy who lived not very far from the school on the opposite side of the road. I used to go around with my friend, Adrian Bell, who lived on Park Road, and his mum taught at Trewirgie for a while. I hope some future letters that appear in the Packet will have as much interest for me. Mr M Dunstone, Melton Road, Barrow-Upon-Soar, Loughborough
