THE results of a major study into Cornish surnames and family history have been captured in a new 256 page book.
The Cornish Family - The Roots of Our Future is the result of a collaboration between The Cornwall Family History Society (the largest family history society in the UK) and the Institute of Cornish Studies.
Published by Cornwall Editions, the book charts Cornish Family history from the Middle Ages to the present day, from the development of common Cornish family names to the migration of Cornish families across the world through the 19th century.
The author is Dr Bernard Deacon, a lecturer at the Institute of Cornish Studies at Camborne.
Also involved were David Holman, chairman of the Cornwall Family History Society, who has been studying family history in detail for 20 years, and Dr Sharron Schwartz whose specialist field is migration studies.
The team, explored the fascinating intricacies of Cornish surnames, place names, family connections, migration and family records over many centuries of history.
