SOMERSET Rebels speedway rider Matt Read is fighting for his life after being seriously injured in a crash at a French race circuit.
The Hampshire based 25-year-old, who made his comeback for the Rebels only last Friday after two months out with a hand injury, is in intensive care in a French hospital with head, chest and back injuries.
He was riding in the World Longtrack Grand Prix series in Morizes on Saturday night when he was involved in a crash with two other riders. Details of his injuries are sketchy but they are reported to be life-threatening.
