TROON elected to bat at New Road against Callington who are just above them in the Premier League, and it produced a keen contest.

Troon were dismissed for 162 in 45 overs, but the hosts reached 165 for the loss of six wickets from 46 overs to run out winners.

Prolific run maker Dave Roberts was out for 17, Ian Osborne made 26 batting at three, but it was newcomer Crowley who top scored making 59 and reaching the boundary ten times. He was bowled by a good Simon Fitze delivery at 158-7.

Earlier Andy Vincent, after young Williams (T) was out for a duck with just seven runs on the board, produced a major contribution when he scored 32.

Dave Jenkin, batting at ten, was 15 not out when the last wicket fell at 162, a total that included 22 extras.

Destroyer of the Troon batting, Ian Bishop, had figures of 16-5-38-5, Simon Fitze from 10 overs had 2-45, and Shorten and Snowdon each got a wicket.

Fitze was soon in the action, opening the innings with Jamie Shorten, in a new-look batting order.

Crowly split the openers at 44 and further wickets fell as the score trundled to 91-9.

Andrew Hocking went for 58 after reaching the fence 10 times and Jamie Hatch, who was run out, made 26. Helped by 32 extras, Callington eased to victory by four wickets to take 20 points. Troon had six points.

Best Troon bowler, Rowe, had figures of 11-1-33-3, Crowley 11-2-37-2, and Dave Jenkin bowled seven overs for 23 runs. He managed three maidens.

Troon end the season on Sunday next at Menheniot who are two places above them.
