BUDOCK Water's annual carnival was one of the best ever according to organisers with more than £1,000 being raised for charity.

The actual parade came at the end of a week of activities including Karaoke, bingo and Euchre championships held at the village's Trelowarren Arms .

Anna Waters, a member of the carnival committee and who works at the Trelowarren Arms, said: "The day went great. It was one of the best ones we've had in years."

Anna said the "Titanic" float of the staff from the Trelowarren Arms stole first prize in the carnival, as judged by the Mayor of Falmouth, Maureen Davies.

"It was the third year that we have won it, however this year was the first time we actually beat anybody. We have won before but we were the only float in the parade," she said.

All the proceeds will be split between the Children's Hospice South West and the Playing Fields Fund and will be presented to the organisations in a presentation evening at the pub later this year.
