THE Royal Cornwall Yacht Club of Falmouth is delighted to be chosen to host the 2005 World Championship of the ISAF class J/80.
The Championship series will be ten races sailed in Falmouth bay. The bay accommodates windward/leeward courses of up to 2 mile beats laid typically within three miles of marina facilities where all boats will be berthed during the championships. Launch and recovery is likely to be at Falmouth Docks immediately opposite the marina.
The RCYC has a successful record of hosting major sailing events and has just successfully completed the 2004 Dragon "Gold Cup".
The J/80 is ideally suited to the sea conditions frequently found in Falmouth Bay. It is a modern, tough, 8 metre trailable sportsboat that gives challenging close racing. It sets a 65 sq. metre gennaker which gives exciting down wind sailing.
