Yeovil Town manager Gary Johnson was pleased with the contribution made by Latvian international Andrejs Stolcers when introduced as a half-time substitute last weekend (writes Steve Sowden).
Stolcers came on with match-winner Gavin Williams at half-time and linked up well in attack with Phil Jevons.
The Latvian, who came on twice during Euro 2004 in Portugal, is currently training with Yeovil while Johnson assesses his fitness. But the one-time £2-million former Fulham man certainly did enough to impress the Huish Park faithful.
But Johnson refused to get too carried away about landing the striker on a long-term basis.
"We are going to take each day as it comes," he said. "He is with me and I've said I'll help him and in the meantime if I'm helping him he can help me.
"We will wait and see what happens. He might like it down here in Yeovil -- it's a nice place and I'm trying to show him all the nice parts. We've invited his wife and baby up."
And Johnson joked: "He's a quality lad, but he's going to have to drop his wages by about £14,000 a week."
Stolcers played 45 minutes in Yeovil's 0-0 Pontins Holiday Combination League match with Plymouth Argyle Reserves at Huish Park on Tuesday. During the second-half he was seen talking to another reported Latvian.
