THE Chard and Ilminster News has joined forces with Chard traders in a bid to raise money for CCTV in the town centre.
Guy and Lesley Derbyshire, of Derbyshire's Estate Agents, have volunteered to help spearhead the new Keeping and Eye on Chard campaign in a bid to crack down on vandals and boost shopper confidence.
They have mustered support from other traders who are sick and tired of shelling out thousands of pounds to replace windows which are getting smashed by yobs on a far-too-regular basis.
Guy said: "It's a problem we can do something about. We can mess around for years waiting or we can do something positive now."
