A SECOND post mortem has failed to determine the cause of death of Taunton murder victim Roger Denslow.

The inquest into the death of Mr Denslow, 40, of Wheatley Crescent, opened and adjourned last Thursday, heard how his body was found by a group of boys in a field near the Obridge Link on Friday, June 30.

The boys had been looking for materials to build a den when they found Mr Denslow's body under a metal sheet. Around him were some stones with a freezer nearby.

Senior investigating officer Det Supt Arthur Lewis told West Somerset Coroner Michael Rose Mr Denslow, the former landlord of the Naval & Military pub in East Reach, left his home to go to nearby shops at around 7pm on June 23 and was reported missing by wife at 1pm the next day.

Det Supt Lewis said: "At 7.30pm on June 30 three boys were playing on wasteland adjacent to the Obridge link footpath, which would have been the route Mr Denslow would have taken to the nearby shops, when they discovered the deceased's body.

"They were looking for metal and wood to make a den.

"He was covered by galvanised metal and around him were some stones."

A second post mortem was carried out last Friday, but again the results were inconclusive.

Police are still carrying out extensive inquiries to try to trace Mr Denslow's killers.

The funeral will be held at Taunton Deane Crematorium at 11am on Friday with donations for Selworthy Special School.
