A WOMAN from Wiveliscombe has taking on a fundraising challenge and has organised a sponsored run to help people with breast cancer.

Gaby Scriven has signed up 50 people from the town to join her in running three miles around the surrounding villages to raise money for Breast Cancer Care.

The event takes place today (Sunday) and starts at 2pm and a barbecue will be provided by The Bear Inn on North Street in the town afterwards.

From each burger sold 50p will be donated to the charity.

Gaby Scriven said: "With both my paternal and maternal grandmothers in remission from breast cancer I decided to raise money to support Breast Cancer Care by organising the run.

"I am not only trying to raise money for Breast Cancer Care but I want to raise breast cancer awareness in general; it is vital that every man and woman is aware of breast cancer, know what is normal for them and know what changes to look for."

Breast Cancer Care provide free support services to anyone who is affected by the disease and are committed to campaigning for better treatment and support for people and their families.

Murray Lindo, director of fundraising and marketing at Breast Cancer Care said: "We are delighted Gaby is organising the run.

"Every contribution makes a difference and funds raised will go towards ensuring that Breast Cancer Care can continue to offer vital support to women and men with breast cancer, their families and friends."
