DISABLED people from across South Somerset have been rewarded for their efforts following a £66,000 Somerset County Council-led project.

The aim of the European Social Fund Project was to discover different ways for working age people with disabilities to be active citizens in Somerset rather than recipients of care.

Those involved with the project have been able to find out about community resources, get qualifications and gain confidence and self esteem to enable them work more closely with their local communities.

The presentation event on Tuesday, July 18, at The Manor Hotel in Yeovil, was an opportunity to recognise the valuable work resulting from the project; all of those taking part have gained qualifications, four have moved into work and four have become volunteers.
