TWO of the three teenagers accused of killing Lloyd Fouracre last year as he walked home from a party will not give evidence in their defence, Exeter Crown Court heard yesterday.

A-Level student Lloyd, from Broomfield, was set upon and beaten to death in Gipsy Lane on September 25.

Andrew Betty, Ross McCormack and Jay Wall, all 19 and also from Taunton, deny his murder.

Yesterday, the court was told Mr Betty and Mr McCormack would not testify about the incident.

Judge Graham Cottle said the jury may draw such inferences as were proper from their failure to so.

Giving evidence on McCormack's behalf, William Tarrant, 20, said he knew him as a quiet, timid person who was "more of a follower than a leader."

The court heard how Mr Tarrant had originally been charged with Lloyd's murder, but proceedings were discontinued when the prosecution offered no evidence.

Mr Tarrant still faces an allegation of violent disorder in relation to the events of that night.
