A SCOUT leader from Rockwell Green has received a top honour for his dedication to his group.

Christopher Cox from Rockwell Green Scout Group has been recognised by the Scout Association with the Chief Scout's Commendation.

Chris, who has been involved in Scouting in the Wellington area for over 15 years, was presented with the awards in recognition of the time he has given to his group, the district and visitors to Huish Woods, the district Scout campsite.

He first became involved at Blackdown, Wellington and in 1994 took on the position of Scout leader at the newly formed Rockwell Green Scout Group.

In 1999 he became group Scout leader and the group has flourished due to his personal efforts and enthusiasm.

Chris has obtained an NSRA air rifle shooting diploma and has also qualified to lead climbing and abseiling - an excellent asset for trips to Huish Woods.

Each year Chris attends two summer camps for the Cubs and Scouts and puts in a great deal of time and effort getting the group in good order.
