FIREFIGHTERS from across West Somerset are this afternoon battling a large heath fire between Alcombe and Dunster.
At 2.30pm, it was reported that around two acres of heath land were alight, covering a 500-metre frontage.
Somerset Fire and Rescue service are currently using beaters and specialist appliances to fight the blaze.
A fire engine from Minehead attended the scene, just south of Alcombe at 12.45pm, after which the fire then escalated and they were joined by four pumping appliances and six specialist engines.
These included a Supercat from Porlock and a Brendan pump from Dulverton.
Firefighters from Lynton, Williton and Bridgwater are also at the scene.
