FIREFIGHTERS are continuing to tackle a heath fire at Ellicombe, Minehead which broke out yesterday.
Specialist equipment, including Brendon pumps to pump water long distances across the inaccssible area, and a foam-equipped SupaCat vehicle, is being used to dowse the blaze.
The call came at 12.45pm yesterday (Friday) when an extensive area of tinder-dry hillside caught fire.
Crews from Minehead, Porlock and Bridgwater fought thr blaze, bringing it under control by late afternoon.
A further call came at 6am this morning when the blaze again sprang up.
The cause of the fire has yet to be established.
Avon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service this week issued a plea to locals and visitors to take extreme care and use plenty of water when disposing of smoking materials and barbecue embers.
