Police are appealing for witnesses after the attempted abduction of a teenage girl in South Petherton last week.

The incident happened at around 8pm on Wednesday (September 12) when the 14-year-old girl was walking near to South Street, in South Petherton.

Police say a white Peugot 205 car pulled up alongside her and a man got out and tried to pull her into the vehicle by the arm.

Luckily the girl managed to get away uninjured and the car drove off.

The attacker was a 6ft tall white man with dark blond hair that had a fringe at eye brow level, a hook shaped nose and sunken eyes.

He was wearing a dark brown round-neck jumper with dark coloured jeans and trainers.

It is believed the Peugeot may have been a left hand drive model and had the letters K and number 1 in the registration.

Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or might recognise the car involved.

Anyone who can help is asked to contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
