PEOPLE in Crewkerne have had their say on the most festive businesses in the town in the first ever email and text poll to nominate the best-dressed festive window.

Crewkerne and District Chamber of Commerce awarded their festive winner, and used a unique poll to decide the winner of the first public vote.

The text and e-mail poll saw Stuart Marsh Shoes come top of the public list, winning a free advert and free publicity on the Crewkerne Town website for the whole of 2008.

The tradition winner was Rodfords Florist in Market Square, which received the Chamber Shield for Festive Window.

One lucky voter will also receive a bottle of champagne in a special draw for taking part.

Chamber Chairman, Marcus Barrett, said: "Not only do the festive windows bring people into the town and into individual shops but they light-up the great historic buildings we are so lucky to have in use here in Crewkerne.

"The Christmas Committee have brought even more sparkle to our market town this year and with the Chamber's initiative, with traders, to get shoppers coming to Crewkerne with two-hours of free parking available now, coming to shop in Crewkerne is simply a must."
