CHARD Road Runners took part in two types of marathon this weekend.

Wayne Loveridge headed to Abingdon for the 26.2 miles of near-flat road race while Fiona McLean was in California for the Rocky Peaks Ultra Marathon with over 6,000 feet of elevation.

McLean headed to Simi Valley, California, to race the 50k Rocky Peaks Ultra Marathon, through landscape film set locations of such films a Lone Ranger, Star Trek and The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin.

By the time McLean hit the 25k mark, she was in the top five female runners and in the top 20 overall.

Despite the sun beating down and the winds picking up the sand and dust, McLean crossed the line in 6h 24m 21s, finishing 15th and third placed female.

Loveridge, meanwhile, rounded the halfway point in 10th out of 800.

He picked up pace to cross the line in sixth in a time of 2h 41m 41s.

MINSTER Miler Caroline Mullane ran The Festival Run at the weekend, starting at the famous Worthy Farm, in Pilton.

She completed the 10k in an amazing time of 50:55 and was second lady overall.

Jem O’Connor went to Reading for the weekend and took part in two races organised by Saturn Running.

Both routes consisted of laps of a 3.28-mile course, with a mixture of both path and trail along the beautiful river Thames.

On Saturday, O'Connor ran the Saturn X Run Marathon #21 in a time of 6:21:09.

On Sunday, she completed the Saturn Running Zoovengers Marathon #22 run in 6:01:47.

Tonight (Wednesday, 23rd) is the 5k handicap.

Head torches and high-vis are mandatory for all runners.

Meet at the Archie Gooch Pavillion - 7pm for a 7.15pm start.
