YEOVIL Town boss Russell Slade is hoping to persuade Ipswich winger Jaime Peters to stay at Huish Park.

Peters, 20, joined on loan in January from Ipswich Town, and the speedy winger netted his first goal for Yeovil in 3-2 League One defeat at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Slade is also on the verge of completing a deal that will see 19-year-old Everton youngster Aidan Downes see his loan spell at Huish Park become permanent.

Slade, speaking to the BBC, said: "I have agreed a deal in effect with Everton. Aidan is on a free but there is a sell-on clause.

And Slade said he had been impressed with the recent performances of Peters which was highlighted by his weekend goal at the City Ground.

"He has finished the season in good style," he said.

"We have found a little slot for Peters where he seems to flourish on the ball, getting at people.

"But like any player worth his salt, if he can make a breakthrough and play in the Championship with Ipswich he is going to do that and stay there."
