MINEHEAD Town player-manager Steve Perkins is confident a good season lies ahead.
Perkins said this week: "There were 27 players at training last night and the attitude was excellent.
"It was Paul West's first training session with the lads and they showed him the sort of commitment he is looking for.
"Westy also worked well with new assistant manager Micky Armitage, who knows this club well and is well liked by the players.
"It's looking good. I am gradually getting the team around me I want. I intend to play as often as possible this season, but that can only work successfully if I have a strong team off the pitch.
"I have spoken to Westy about the future and he will continue to work with the lads on a week-to-week basis, which is a great boost.
"Westy's experience, enthusiasm and great drive is passed on to the players that's good news for them and good news for the club."
Many of last season's players have signed on and a number of friendlies have been arranged for Perkins to have a look at other players thinking of joining the club.
