SOMERSET County Cricket Club has announced that veteran all-rounder Peter Trego will play Minor County Cricket for Devon this summer - when he is not playing for Somerset.
The 37-year-old signed a white ball-only contract with Somerset for the 2019 season, and so he will be able to play for neighbouring Devon whenever the focus is on red ball matches in Taunton.
Last year saw Trego play for Weston-super-Mare in the West of England Premier League, alongside his Somerset CCC commitments.
Trego told the club website: "I love playing in the Minor Counties competition and it will provide me with a good test when I’m not busy with Somerset.
"It enables me to keep my own game in good order and I'd like to say thanks to Devon for giving me the chance to play for them.
"It enables me to keep on playing cricket when there is nothing for me to be involved with at Somerset, and it’s great that I am able to help Devon out in this way.
"There are close links between our two counties and after all they have certainly provided us with a number of players over the years, several who are currently in our first team."
Dom Bess, Ben Green, Lewis Gregory, Craig Overton and Jamie Overton all made the move from Devon to feature in Somerset's current 1st XI squad.
