BOTH Tom Abell and George Bartlett scored superb centuries as Somerset earned a first innings lead against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.

The pair added 223 for the fourth wicket before Abell fell for 101, with Bartlett later the sixth man to fall having made a career-best 133.

It is Bartlett's second century for Somerset following his 110 against Lancashire at Old Trafford last season, meaning he has now scored hundreds against opposition attacks including James Anderson and Stuart Broad.

For Abell, this was a fifth First Class ton and his second as captain.

The partnership took Somerset's score to 259 and, though they lost a couple of quick wickets shortly after passing 300, Lewis Gregory and Josh Davey took the visitors past 400 to gain maximum batting points.
