SOMERSET go in search of their first silverware since 2005 on Saturday as they take on Hampshire in the Royal London One-Day Cup final at Lord's.

It is the last final of its kind to be held at Lord's - the showpiece occasion moves to Trent Bridge from next year - and thousands of Somerset supporters are expected to travel to the capital to show their support.

It is Somerset's first final at the home of cricket since 2011, when they lost the CB40 final against Surrey - one of five times they have been beaten finalists across the white-ball competitions since they lifted the T20 Cup in 2005.

Somerset captain Tom Abell said: "It will be a great occasion, and I'm just glad Somerset will be a part of it.

"We are desperate to win it, but equally we've got to concentrate on getting the best out of ourselves on the day, trying to relax as much as possible and try to enjoy the occasion, as that is when we get the best out of ourselves.

"We are not naive to the fact that Somerset have come second a number of times.

"There's no-one more desperate than us in the changing room to change that.

"I've seen a number of messages from people and I think the Somerset crowd is really looking forward to the day out at Lord's - we want to win it for them as well."

Somerset are at full strength for the final, Tom Banton having made a positive recovery from a minor back spasm, and have named the following 14-man squad:

Tom Abell (c), Azhar Ali, Tom Banton, George Bartlett, Josh Davey, Steve Davies, Lewis Gregory, Ben Green, Tim Groenewald, James Hildreth, Craig Overton, Jamie Overton, Peter Trego and Roelof van der Merwe.

Banton will be among those looking to make a name for himself on the big stage after a breakthrough tournament with the bat.

The 20-year-old has scored two centuries and two fifties in the competition so far and spoke to the County Gazette this week - click here to read the interview.

Craig Overton, meanwhile, goes into the match sat top of the PCA's One-Day Cup Most Valuable Player (MVP) table after an excellent tournament so far.

Overton is Somerset's leading wicket taker in the competition with 20 at an average of 17.50, and has also scored 213 valuable lower order runs at an average of 71.

Opposition in focus

HAMPSHIRE know what it takes to win at Lord's.

They won last year's final, beating Kent by 61 runs, for their fifth List A title - four of which have come since 2005.

Somerset's opponents have received a blow in the build-up to the game as they are without their leading run scorer in the competition, James Vince, and second top wicket-taker Liam Dawson due to their selection in England's World Cup squad.

Hampshire finished top of the South Group in the competition, beating Somerset by seven wickets in Taunton during the group stage, and defeated Lancashire by four wickets in the semi-final.

Hampshire have named the following squad: Kyle Abbott, Sam Northeast, Aneurin Donald, Rilee Rossouw, Ian Holland, Brad Taylor, Gareth Berg, Fidel Edwards, Joe Weatherley, James Fuller, Tom Alsop, Mason Crane, Lewis McManus
