SOMERSET will be without their T20 captain Lewis Gregory for at least the next two Vitality Blast matches.
The all-rounder has suffered a stress injury to a bone in his foot which will keep him out of the visit of Surrey on Friday evening and the trip to Middlesex on Sunday.
Somerset's head of science medicine, Jamie Thorpe, told the club website: "The decision has been taken to protect the foot for a period of time in order to let it settle and become pain free.
"Lewis will then begin a gradual weight loading programme in order to help get him back on the field fully fit for Somerset County Cricket Club.
"Unfortunately, we don’t have a specific time frame for his recovery at this point.”
Tom Abell, who led the side when Gregory was absent due to England commitments, is the likely candidate to take up the role again this weekend.
