SOMERSET'S T20 captain Lewis Gregory has returned to the squad for tomorrow's must-win Vitality Blast match against Middlesex in

Taunton

.

Gregory has been unavailable since the start of August due to a foot injury, but has made sufficient strides in his recovery in order to take his place in the 15-strong squad named by head coach Jason Kerr.

If selected, Somerset will hope that Gregory can provide some crucial firepower in the middle order, something which has been missing at times during the campaign.

Openers Babar Azam and Tom Banton have scored more than half of Somerset's runs in the tournament so far, with Kerr telling the County Gazette's Paul Martin that, on occasion, "we haven't capitalised on the platforms they have provided".

Middlesex's own version of 'The Babar and Banton Show' is South African AB de Villiers, who has hit 253 runs in just five matches in the competition - at an average of 84.33.

Of those runs, 88 came in the reverse fixture between these sides, which the home side won by 35 runs.

Somerset squad: Tom Abell, Babar Azam, Tom Banton, George Bartlett, Dom Bess, Eddie Byrom, Lewis Gregory, Tim Groenewald, James Hildreth, Tom Lammonby, Craig Overton, Ollie Sale, Jerome Taylor, Roelof van der Merwe, Max Waller.

Middlesex squad: Dawid Malan, Tom Barber, AB de Villiers, Stephen Eskinazi, Steven Finn, Mohammad Hafeez, James Harris, Tom Helm, Eoin Morgan, Toby Roland-Jones, George Scott, John Simpson, Nathan Sowter, Paul Stirling.

Somerset are currently fourth in the South Group table, which would be enough to see them into the knockout stages of the competition.

However, a win for Middlesex at Hampshire tonight would put them ahead of Somerset (both teams currently have 13 points), with Surrey (12 points) also in the mix going into the final round of group matches.

It is therefore imperative that Somerset beat Middlesex, to ensure their T20 dream stays alive this season.

Looking ahead to the match, Kerr said: "We needed to win our last group game in the Royal London One-Day Cup [group stage] to go through and we did, so we have a history in these sorts of games.

"We didn't want it to come down to this, but we are looking forward to the occasion."

The match, which is sold out, is scheduled to begin at 6.30pm at the Cooper Associates County Ground.

Sky Sports is televising the game live, and the County Gazette will be bringing updates and reaction from the ground too.
